On January 15th, 1919, Boston witnessed a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, standing at least 25 feet in some areas, was horrifying. Homes and businesses crumbled under the power of the unstoppable goo.

The aftermath was grim. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more were injured. The flood also caused a great deal of destruction to property, leaving a trail of sticky residue in its wake.

A Sticky Situation in Sticky Nightmare

This past week/month/summer, Boston has been plagued by a horrible/utterly disgusting/awful sticky nightmare. It seems like every/all/the majority of surfaces, from sidewalks/cars/buildings, are covered in an unidentifiable goo/substance/mess.
